What is happening in different parts of the front
The General Staff of the Armed Forces provided operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 18.00 on 07.01.2024.
During the day, 29 combat clashes took place.
In total, the enemy carried out six missiles and 40 air strikes, and carried out 21 attacks from MLRS on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential and multi-apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
On Volyn and Polisia's directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and intelligence activities, attacks populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. About 20 settlements, including Klyusy, Buchki, and Gremyachka of the Chernihiv region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling; Volfyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Mefodivka of the Sumy region; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Potykhonove of the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled two attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka, Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. The enemy also carried out an airstrike in the Berestove area of the Kharkiv region. About ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, particularly Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Tabaiivka of the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks east of Terny of the Donetsk region. More than ten settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling, among them Bilogorivka of the Luhansk region and Terny, Yampolivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka of the Donetsk region.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Andriivka, Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the area of the Druzhba settlement of Donetsk region. More than ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, particularly Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled five enemy attacks in Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka and another 11 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske of the Donetsk region. With aviation's support, the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position. About 15 settlements, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Sieverne, and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Mariinka direction, the Defense Forces continued to hold back the enemy in the Mariinka and Novomykhailivka districts of the Donetsk region, where the invaders, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of our troops three times. The enemy also carried out airstrikes in the Krasnohorivka and Georgiivka settlements of the Donetsk region. Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostyantynivka came under artillery and mortar fire from the occupiers.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in Shakhtarsk's direction. They shelled more than ten settlements with artillery and mortars, including Vugledar, Zolota Niva, Urozhaine, and Staromayorske of the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled the enemy's attack west of the Vervove Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements, including Olhivske, Poltavka, Chervone, Biloghirya, Robotyne, and Pyatykhatky of the Zaporizhia region, were hit by artillery and mortar fire.
In the OSTG "Odesa" responsibility in the Kherson direction, Kherson of the Kherson region and Dmytrivka, Ochakiv of the Mykolaiv region were subjected to enemy artillery fire. The occupiers also carried out airstrikes in the areas of Respublikanets, Chervyn Mayak, Zmiivka, and KrynkY settlements of the Kherson region.
