General Staff: Ukraine repelled 32 attacks by the Russian army in the Avdiivka direction

The units of the Ukrainian missile forces have hit enemy air defence systems, an area for the concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, 4 artillery pieces, 2 electronic warfare stations and 3 enemy control points.

What is happening in different parts of the front

Operational information as of 6 a.m., on January 5, 2024, regarding the Russian invasion was provided by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

During the past day, 59 combat clashes took place at the frontline.

In total, the enemy carried out 7 missile and 36 air strikes, 37 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

At night, the Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed-136/131 type UAVs. The combat work of the Ukrainian defence forces continues, the results are to be announced later.

The following settlements were hit by enemy airstrikes: Novomykhailivka, Heorhiivka in the Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region; Zmiivka in the Kherson region.

About 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under enemy artillery fire.

In the Volyn and Poliske directions, the area defended by the Ukrainian operational-strategic group "Pivnich", the situation remains without significant changes.

In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions , the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities in order to prevent the transfer of our troops to the fighting positions, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of Khortytsia operational-strategic group, in the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 attacks by the occupiers near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region.

The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Lyman direction .

In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 4 enemy attacks in Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka districts of Donetsk region.

In the zone of responsibility of Tavriya operational-strategic group, in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy, who does not stop trying to surround Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly hold the defence, inflicting significant losses on the invaders. Thus, during the past 24 hours, the Defence Forces repelled 16 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and another 16 attacks in Pervomaisky and Nevelsky districts of Donetsk region.

In the Maryinka direction, our defenders continue to hold back the enemy near the settlements of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 7 attacks were repulsed.

The occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Shakhtarsk direction.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defence Forces repelled 8 enemy attacks in the Robotyne area and north-west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the zone of responsibility of Odesa operational-strategic group, in the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers will continue measures to expand the foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not stop trying to knock our units out of their positions. During the past day, the enemy carried out 6 unsuccessful assaults.

New successes of Armed Forces of Ukraine in Russian-Ukrainian war

Our soldiers continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire frontline.

During the past day, the Air Force of the Defence Forces of Ukraine struck 10 personnel concentration areas and 2 enemy control points.
