The team of the head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, was publicly outraged by the idea of Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, who want to resettle Palestinians outside the borders of Gaza.
US angered again over Israel's Gaza proposals
According to American diplomats, the new rhetoric of official Tel Aviv is provocative and irresponsible.
The Israeli government has repeatedly and consistently told us, including the prime minister, that such statements do not reflect the policy of the Israeli government. They must stop immediately, the US State Department said.
Anthony Blinken's team reiterated that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land.
In addition, diplomats noted that Hamas terrorists no longer control its future and that there are no groups that can threaten Israel.
This is the kind of future we seek in the interests of Israelis and Palestinians, the entire region and the world, the American agency added.
What Israel offers regarding Gaza
On December 31, the head of the Ministry of Finance, Bezalel Smotrych, called on the Palestinian residents to leave Gaza.
The Minister of National Security, Ben-Gvir, said that the war in Gaza provides "an opportunity to focus on encouraging the migration of Gazans."
Importantly, Smotrych's far-right party enjoyed the support of Israeli settlers and helped Benjamin Netanyahu secure the majority needed to become prime minister for the sixth time a year ago.
