What is happening in different parts of the front
The General Staff of the Armed Forces provided operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 18.00 on 19.01.2024.
The situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day, 87 combat clashes took place.
In total, the enemy launched one missile and 16 air strikes. The enemy carried out 43 attacks by MRLS on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
On Volyn and Polisia's directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and intelligence activities, attacks populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. About 15 settlements, including Liskivshchyna, Karpovychi, Gremyach, Khrinivka, and Dibrova of Chernihiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks; Zapsilya of the Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory and Budarky of the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled six attacks in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaiivka, and Berestove settlements of the Kharkiv region, where the enemy tried to break through the defences of our troops. More than ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka and Berestove in Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled nine attacks near Terny in the Donetsk region and another 15 attacks near Serebryansk Forestry and Bilogorivka in the Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defences of our troops. More than 15 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling, among them Nevske in the Luhansk region and Terny, Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repelled three attacks in the Andriivka and Klishchiivka districts of the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. About ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, particularly Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka area and another 17 attacks south of Tonenke, Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Here, the occupiers, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defence of our troops. The enemy also carried out an airstrike in the Orlivka region of the Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements, including Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiyivka, and Sieverne of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Mariinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to contain the enemy in the Mariinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. In this direction, the invaders, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position six times. Georgiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka came under artillery and mortar fire from the occupiers.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in Shakhtarsk's direction. More than ten settlements, including Vodiane, Vugledar, Urozhaine, and Staromayorske of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders repulsed two attacks west of Vervove in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position. More than 20 settlements, including Malynivka, Chervone, Biloghirya, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Pyatykhatky of the Zaporizhzhia region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the zone of OSTG "Odesa" responsibility in the Kherson direction, the regional centre of the Kherson region and the districts of the settlements of Antonivka, Berehove of the Kherson region and Ochakiv of the Mykolaiv region were subjected to enemy artillery fire.
