What is happening in different parts of the front
The General Staff of the Armed Forces provided operational information regarding the Russian invasion by 18.00 on January 18, 2024.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day, 114 combat clashes took place.
During the day, the enemy launched one missile and 48 air strikes. Russians carried out 38 attacks with MLRS USE on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
On Volyn and Polisa's directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
In the Siverskand Slobozhansk directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and intelligence activities, attacks populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. Russian invaders carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vovchansk and Mykolaivka settlements of the Kharkiv region. About 20 settlements, including Klyusy of Chernihiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks; Radinakse of the Sumy region; Stognii, Udy, Starytsa, Vovchansk, Bochkove and Nesterne of the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled 18 enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaiivka andBerestove settlements of the Kharkiv region, where the enemy tried to break through the defences of our troops. The enemy also carried out airstrikes in Golubivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Tabaivka settlements of the Kharkiv region. About ten settlements, including Dvorichna, Masyutivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove of the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 14 enemy attacks in the Terny and Yampolivka districts of the Donetsk region and seven more attacks in the Serebryansk Forestry and Bilogorivka districts of the Luhansk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of our troops. The enemy carried out airstrikes in Serebryansk Forestry and Bilogorivka, Luhansk Region. About 15 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling, among them Karmazynivka, Nevske and Bilogorivka of the Luhansk region and Torske, Dibrova, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne andRozdolivka of the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled two enemy attacks in the Bohdanivka area of the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position with the support of aviation. About ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and New York of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 22 enemy attacks in Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka. Another 14 attacks were in Pervomaiske and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of our troops. About 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Stepove, Orlivka, Avdiivka, and Sieverne of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Mariinka direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continued to hold back the enemy in the Krasnohorivka, Maryinka and Novomykhailivka districts of the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to improve the tactical position 13 times. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the area of the settlement of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Settlements of the Donetsk region came under the artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers: Krasnohorivka, Maksimilianivka, Georgiivka and Novomykhailivka.
In the direction of Shakhtarsk, the defence forces repelled four enemy attacks west of Staromayorske and south of Urozhaine of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the area of the Vodyane settlement of the Donetsk region. More than ten settlements, including Vugledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Vremivka, Staromayorske, and Rivnopil of the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the Russian occupiers.
In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements, including Poltavka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, and Stepnohirsk of the Zaporizhzhya region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the zone of OSTG "Odesa" responsibility in the Kherson direction, the regional centre of the Kherson region and the districts of Zmiivka, Tyagynka, Ivanivka, Sadove, Antonivka, Chornobayivka of the Kherson region were subjected to enemy artillery fire.
New AFU's successes in the war against the Russian army
The enemy does not give up his intention to knock out our units from the footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day, the enemy carried out 11 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of our troops.
