In Kharkiv region, they warn about possible strikes on energy supply sector

According to the head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, a meeting of the Defence Council was held in the Kharkiv region.

It is possible that as weather conditions worsen, the occupiers will attack the energy infrastructure, he said.

The head of the regional state administration added that all medical institutions and life support facilities are provided with alternative power sources. If necessary, the "Points of Resilience" in the region will be switched to round-the-clock operation.

The meeting also discussed the issues of ensuring the passability of strategic routes, evacuation and medical routes, which are the priority ones. Road services were instructed to take control of the Izyum direction.

Mobilisation processes were also an important issue for the Defence Council.

We emphasise that both citizens and representatives of the Territorial Centres of Recruitment and Social Support comply with the law. Any facts that indicate violations will be investigated by law enforcement, added Syniehubov.

What is situation in Kharkiv region

The Russian occupiers seized the border areas of the Kharkiv region in the first weeks of the full-scale invasion. In the autumn of 2022, the Ukrainian military liberated almost the entire territory of the region.

Since the de-occupation, Russians have been shelling the Kharkiv region on a daily basis. Kupyansk district is particularly affected. In addition, the media reports that the occupiers are allegedly preparing an offensive on Kupyansk, but the authorities deny this.

On 6 January, explosions were heard in Kharkiv again. Later it turned out that the Russians had fired S-300 missiles at the Kharkiv district.
