The South Korean government has expanded export control over the Russian Federation and Belarus. As part of the sanctions, Seoul has significantly expanded the list of goods with hundreds of items subject to restrictions.

What goods has South Korea added to the list of export sanctions?

As noted, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea has added another 682 items to the list of goods whose deliveries to Russia and Belarus are prohibited.

In particular, heavy construction equipment, batteries, machine tools and aviation components were included there.

It is noted that the new resolution will increase the total number of items on the sanctions list to 1,159.

This decision should enter into force in early 2024 after implementing the necessary administrative procedures and the South Korean government's publication of guidance for exporters.

At the same time, the South Korean authorities indicated that they would conduct an individual analysis of "exceptional cases" of supplies.

Sanctions of South Korea against the Russian Federation and Belarus

It is worth noting that Seoul significantly expanded sanctions against Minsk and Moscow in April 2023 - then the list increased from 57 to 798 items, industrial and construction equipment, products of the steel and chemical industries, as well as parts for cars costing more than 50 thousand dollars.

Note that South Korea regularly provides assistance to Ukraine to ensure the demining of the territories of our country as a result of Russian intervention. In addition, the Eastern partners send humanitarian aid packages.
