The Defence Forces of Ukraine continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region and continue to inflict fire damage on the enemy.
What is happening in different parts of the front
The General Staff of the Armed Forces provided operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 18:00 on 12/12/2023.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day, 73 combat clashes took place.
The enemy launched one missile and three air strikes and fired 38 MRLS rocket strikes at the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
In Volyn and Polisia's directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Specific units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and intelligence activities, carries out shelling of populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. About 15 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar fire by the Russian occupiers, among them Popivka, Chernihiv region; Seredyna Buda, Veselivka in the Sumy Region; Chervona Zorya, Kozacha Lopan, Lukyantsi, Zelene of the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight enemy attacks in the Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka districts of the Kharkiv region.
About ten settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kupiansk, Ivanivka, and Berestove of the Kharkiv region, came under the artillery and mortar fire of the Russian invaders.
In Lyman's direction, the defence forces repelled two enemy attacks in the Makiivka area of the Luhansk region. About ten settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling, among them Nevske, Bilogorivka, Serebryansk Forestry of Luhansk Oblast and Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnyokamianske of Donetsk Oblast.
In the Bakhmut direction, units of the Defense Forces repelled four enemy attacks in the Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka districts of the Donetsk region.
About ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and New York of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 37 enemy attacks in the areas east of Novokalynove, east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, south of Sieverne, south of Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of our troops. More than ten settlements, including Suha Balka, Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Mariinka direction, the defence forces continued to hold back the enemy in the Novomykhailivka districts of the Donetsk region, where the enemy launched ten unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our defenders. Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, Mariinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka of the Donetsk region came under the artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
The enemy did not carry out offensive (assault) actions in Shakhtarsk's direction. About ten settlements, including Vodyane, Vugledar, Prechistivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the defence forces repelled four enemy attacks north of Pryutne and west of Verbove of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements, including Novodanilivka, Orihiv, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Pyatykhatka, and Plavni of the Zaporizhia region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Kherson direction, Ivanivka, Vysoke, Antonivka, Veletenske and the regional centre of the Kherson region and Ochakiv of the Mykolaiv region were hit by enemy artillery fire.
New successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war against the Russian army
Ukraine's defence forces will continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region. They continue to inflict fire damage on the enemy.
During the day, the aviation of the defence forces struck the area where the enemy's personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.
Units of the missile forces inflicted damage on the control point of the Russian occupiers, two areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, and one enemy ammunition depot.
