Defence forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region. They continue to fire at the enemy.
What is happening in different parts of the front
The operational information as of 18.00 on 09.12.2023 on the Russian invasion was provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day, 45 combat clashes took place.
The enemy carried out five missile and five air strikes, fired 25 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas. The Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine with an Kh-59 guided missile, which was successfully destroyed by Ukrainian air defence forces. Russian terrorist attacks resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissya sectors remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi sectors, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. About 25 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including: Plohiv, Kliusy, Baranivka, Rozhkovychi, Fotovizh, Starykove, and Vovche in the Sumy region; Ternova, Starytsia, and Bochkove in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks in the areas of Sinkivka in the Kharkiv region, and Novoselivske in the Luhansk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including: Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Petropavlivka, Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Lyman sector.
Hostile artillery and mortar shelling affected about 10 settlements, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian defence forces repelled 12 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.
About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Nyzhyk in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka sector, our defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Tonenke and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of our troops. About 15 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pivnichne, Tonenke and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka sector, Ukrainian defence forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Maryinka, Pobyeda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, made 8 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our defenders. The following settlements of the Donetsk region came under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers: Maryinka, Pobyeda, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka.
In the Shakhtarsk sector, Ukrainian defence forces repelled two attacks by the enemy, who tried to force our units out of their positions near Staromayorsk, Donetsk region. The enemy launched an air strike near Prechystivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk Oblast region.
In the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukrainian defence forces repelled three enemy attacks in the area of Novopokrovka and west from Robotyno in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Novodanylivka, Novopavlivka, Lobkove, Stepove in Zaporizhzhia region and Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovs'k region.
In the Kherson sector, Kherson, Beryslav, Tyahynka and Ivanivka in the Kherson region came under hostile artillery fire.
New successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war against the Russian army
The defense forces will continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson region. They continue to inflict fire damage on the enemy.
Units of the missile forces damaged two warehouses of fuel and lubricants of the enemy.
