What is known about Aleksandr Pumpyanskiy

Alexandr Pumpyanskiy was included in the sanctions lists in mid-March 2022, after which the restrictions on him were extended twice.

The reason for imposing sanctions was that he was on the board of directors of the Tubular Metallurgical Company, which cooperates with Russian state-owned enterprises — Rosneft, Gazprom, and Russian Railways.

After falling under sanctions, Pumpyanskiy left the boards of directors of TMK, the Sinara group and the Sinara Bank.

What does his father do?

Dmytri Pumpyanskiy is a Russian entrepreneur, president of the Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ural Federal University.

Due to the support of Russian aggression, it is under personal international sanctions of the European Union, the United States, and several other countries. He tried to get the sanctions lifted in court but was refused.

Removal of sanctions against Russian businessmen

In July, Great Britain cancelled the personal sanctions imposed on Oleg Tinkov, a Russian businessman and founder of Tinkoff Bank.

In September, the EU court lifted sanctions against Aleksandr Shulgin, the founder of the Russian company Ozon.

It was reported today that German Khan, co-founder of the investment firm LetterOne, has lost a lawsuit against European Union sanctions over his close ties to President Vladimir Putin and his influential role in Russia.
