Ukrainian government extended the ban on the import of Russian goods into Ukraine

Government of Ukraine

In December 2015, the government of Ukraine adopted two resolutions on limiting trade with Russia. Resolution No. 1147 prohibited a wide range of Russian goods, both industrial and food. Resolution No. 1146 established import duty rates for importing goods from the Russian Federation. Both documents are renewed every year in December.

Goods from Russia will not be imported into Ukraine for another year

The Cabinet of Ministers extended the ban on importing goods from the Russian Federation into Ukraine for one more year.

The government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, reported this on his Telegram.

Resolution No. 1147 of December 30, 2015, "On the ban on the importation of goods originating from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine", has been extended until December 31, 2024 (inclusive).

The government also extended the effect of Resolution No. 1146 of December 30, 2015, "On import duty rates for goods originating in the Russian Federation" until December 31, 2024.

Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of 2015

In December 2015, the government adopted two resolutions to restrict trade with Russia. This happened because, on January 1, 2016, Russia unilaterally terminated the Agreement on a free trade area within the framework of the CIS about Ukraine, in connection with which import duties began to be applied to goods of Ukrainian origin.

In particular, Resolution No. 1147 banned a wide range of Russian goods, both industrial and food.

Resolution No. 1146 established import duty rates for importing goods from the Russian Federation.

Both documents are renewed every year in December.

After the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, all trade with Russia is prohibited. An exception is gas transit. The current transit agreement between Naftogaz of Ukraine and Russia's Gazprom was concluded at the end of 2019 for five years. Despite the war, Ukraine allows Russian gas to pass through its territory to countries such as Austria, Slovakia, Italy and Hungary.
