The assistant of MP Eugen Schmidt ("Alternative for Germany" party) in the Bundestag could be connected with the Russian special services.
An FSB agent worked in the Bundestag
An investigation by Der Spiegel and The Insider revealed that deputy deputy Volodymyr Sergienko was in contact with an FSB officer.
It was previously reported that several deputies of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party (the second most popular German party) actively interacted with the Kremlin through Volodymyr Sergienko, a Russian political technologist of Ukrainian origin, who has lived in Germany for many years and even received German citizenship.
Now, journalists managed to confirm that Sergyienko was not just a Russian propagandist but an agent recruited by the Fifth Service of the FSB.
Last summer, Der Spiegel published an article about Sergiyenko's connections with a confident person in Moscow, with whom he allegedly discussed the delay in supplying Ukraine with German tanks.
Journalists of The Insider assume that this person was FSB colonel Ilya Vechtomov, an employee of the Service of Operational Information and International Relations of the FSB of Russia.
It is noted that Western special services have monitored Sergiyenko for a long time. He often visited Moscow and participated in a Russian television talk show.
Investigation of Sergiyenko's activities
Until 2022, he only had a Ukrainian passport, in November 2022 he received a German passport, and in April 2023, German customs officials found 9,000 euros and a Russian passport in his possession when returning from Russia.
Sergiyenko denies that he has any connection with Russian intelligence and calls them fiction.
The Bundestag is already checking Sergiyenko's work, temporarily blocking his credentials. The prosecutor's office in Berlin was also interested in him because he hid the fact that he had a Russian passport.
In January 2023, Ukraine introduced sanctions against several Russians, including Volodymyr Sergienko.
