On December 19, a civilian plane took off from Boryspil International Airport. The Boeing 777-300 took off around 09:00.

What is known about the departure of the plane from Boryspil

As noted, on 19 December, a Boeing 777-300 aircraft made a maintenance flight from Boryspil Airport (KBP) to one of the European airports on behalf of the Ukrainian airline Skyline Express.

The flight met the highest standards of aviation safety and security, in accordance with the directives in force at the time of the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, and, it should be noted, without passengers and cargo on board, the statement said.

Airport representatives noted that since the closure of Ukrainian airspace on 24 February 2022, Skyline Express ships have been parked at Boryspil Airport. They have been undergoing ongoing technical support and maintenance.

It is also known that this is the fourth successful departure of the aircraft from Boryspil airport since the beginning of the war.

Even in the face of airspace closure, Boryspil Airport remains focused on ensuring operational readiness and financial stability, in particular in terms of infrastructure maintenance and staff certification, the press service said.

In addition, they noted that this flight will play an important role in the future resumption of civilian air traffic in Ukraine under martial law.

This flight not only contributes to testing the recovery policy, but is also a strategic step for Ukrainian airlines and helps them cut costs and increase their chances of survival in a difficult aviation environment, the airport's press service concluded.

Resumption of civil flights in Ukraine

In early November, the head of the OP, Andriy Yermak, suggested that one of the airports could be opened in Ukraine by the end of the war.

He did not specify which airport would be opened, but the media, citing their own sources, wrote that it was a city in western Ukraine.

However, the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently announced which airport would be opened first.

At the meeting with the ambassadors, Andriy Yermak, the head of the OP, expressed confidence that Boryspil would soon be receiving and sending aircraft.

This return to the elements of peace is possible because Ukraine has become stronger. Now we can ensure the security of this facility. Thanks to our Defence Forces and our friends - your countries. And I am confident that the symbolic boarding passes you received at the entrance will soon become real, he added.

It is worth noting that, according to Oleksiy Dubrevsky, general director of Boryspil airport, the facility is ready to start receiving planes a month after the end of the war. He made such a statement back in October of this year.
