On February 28, the international conference "Historical Memory and Modern Struggle: Rethinking the Past, confronting the Present" was held in Kyiv. Ukraine and North Caucasus peoples are united against the aggressor Russia

80 years since the deportation of Chechens and Ingush people
30 years since the beginning of the Russo-Chechen war
Ten years since the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
The conference was attended by representatives of the authorities of Ukraine, the Chechen Republic, the Mejlis and the Crimean Tatar people.
The international conference participants analysed the historical perspective and the current situation in the context of Russian imperialism, discussed the risk of the transition of the Russian-Ukrainian war into the Third World War, and the impact of the Russian Federation's actions on world stability.
Ukraine and North Caucasus peoples call on the world to stop Russia
Speakers drew parallels and emphasised that Russia's aggressive tactics have remained unchanged for decades.
That is why the international community must unite because the defeat of Ukraine will be a defeat for the whole world.
The head of the government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Akhmed Zakaev, made a statement on this occasion.
Russia has only one slogan — "conquer or destroy." If we do not support Ukraine today, if we do not break the spine of this beast, it will not stop. Our people know this from their own experience. We must make all our efforts so that Ukraine wins. After all, Ukraine has no chance of losing. So, Ukrainian people, we will be with you until the end! The victory of Ukraine is the victory of the entire civilised world.
Akhmed Zakaev
Head of the Government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria
Akhmed Zakayev's position was supported by the president of the international socio-political movement "Assembly of the Peoples of the Caucasus" Ruslan Kutayev.
He urged the world never to forget how much grief Russia has brought to different countries and peoples.
The reason for all this, all these troubles, is the "Russian world". It destroys, erases everyone who opposes, who does not want to obey. There are two things that Russia will never forgive Ukraine and Chechnya: our peoples broke and continue to break this concept of "Russian world" and we will bring this matter to an end, Ruslan Kutaev emphasised.
According to Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the people of the North Caucasus will never leave the Ukrainian people alone with the aggression of Russia. They will also help to destroy the Putin regime finally.
Today, it is essential to finish everything. It is necessary to explain to our friends from Western democracy that they are following. I do not doubt that your people (the peoples of the North Caucasus — ed.) will be with Ukraine to the end and will fight with us to the end.
Mykhailo Podolyak
Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine
Refat Chubarov, head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, also made a statement.
He is convinced that the principles of international law will never be abolished or reformed according to the whims of Russia.
Accordingly, the rules that the Russian Federation is trying to apply throughout the world with the help of force are not only illegal, but also threaten the existence of human civilisation. Therefore, Russia will certainly suffer the punishment for everything it has done, Chubarov emphasised.
During the conference, the North Caucasus nations' military, fighting for Ukraine in the Armed Forces, were awarded honorary orders.
In addition, Ukrainian children who suffered from Russian aggression and are still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation handed over to the Ukrainian government and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the coat of arms of Ukraine and the coat of arms of Free Ichkeria, which were made from the remains of Russian shells.
