A counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced in the Lelchitsky district of the Gomel region of Belarus, which borders Ukraine.

What is known about the regime of the counter-terrorist operation in part of Belarus

The Belarusian mass media, citing the KGB administration, stated that a counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced in the Lelchytsky district of the Gomel region. The district is located near the border with Ukraine, bordering Zhytomyr and Rivne regions.

Residents of the district are asked to remain calm and obey the demands of law enforcement officers, Belta writes.

Neither the Belarusian mass media nor the KGB reported on the reasons for introducing the regime of the counter-terrorist operation.

Participation of Belarus in the war against Ukraine

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Belarus gave its territory to Russian troops to attack Ukraine.

Belarus has also granted Russia access to its military airbases for Russian military aircraft to launch aircraft and its military installations to fire artillery and missiles from its territory.

The media reported that Belarus also treated Russian soldiers.

On March 25, 2023, Vladimir Putin announced that he had agreed with Alexander Lukashenko on the placement and storage of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

According to the Belarusian Gayun project, at least 721 rockets were launched from the territory of Belarus into Ukraine.

Belarus has also organised so-called "training" with Russia, which will continue from April 29, 2022. Therefore, the Ukrainian military continues to strengthen border security.
