The Russian occupiers are left without a railway bridge near Volnovakha

The adviser of Mariupol's mayor, Petro Andryushchenko, reported that an attack occurred near Volnovakha in constructing a railway line which should connect occupied Mariupol, Volnovakha and Donetsk.

Granitne village. Another hit to the area where the engineering units of the occupiers were based, which finally shattered the hope for the railway bridge. More precisely, its remains together with at least five units of engineering equipment, he said.

According to Andryushchenko, "this is not just a dot" but "a fat cross on the potential of the railway from Russia for at least 2024".

We thank everyone involved, primarily in the occupation, he added.

What is known about the Russian railway construction which connects occupied Mariupol and Donetsk

In September 2023, it became known that the occupiers were building a direct railway connection with Mariupol, Volnovakha and Donetsk. They have already started to arrange the railway bridge near the village of Granitne across the Kalmius River.

The Russian occupiers are preparing to lose their logistics routes, so they want to build a new railway line from Rostov-on-Don through the temporarily captured Ukrainian cities of Mariupol, Berdyansk and Melitopol near the coast of the Sea of Azov to Crimea.

At the same time, Russia transferred about 5,000 new reserves to the temporarily occupied Mariupol and the region.
