On March 6, an explosion occurred at the Russian Republic of Tuva thermal power plant (TPP). There are no fatalities, but at least 18 are known to have been injured.
What is known about the explosion at the Russian thermal power plant?
The head of the republic, Vladyslav Khovalyg, noted that the causes of the accident at the Shagonarskaya TPP are currently being established. Emergency services are on site, and the building is surrounded.
After the explosion at the Shagonarskaya TPP in Tuva, 18 people were hospitalised. Six are in serious condition, nine are in moderate condition, and the search for three more is underway.
In addition, local media reported that all four boilers at the Shagonarskaya TPP were not damaged and are in working condition. The central heating is currently switched off due to emergency and restoration works.
At the same time, a criminal case was opened in the republic over the fact of the accident at the thermal power plant and a state of emergency was introduced in Tuva.
What is known about explosions in Russia?
Earlier, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) confirmed the explosion on the bridge in the Samara region. The railway bridge over the Chapaevka River in the Samara Region was blasted at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Mar. 4, causing damage to the bridge's strength structures. Therefore, the movement through the crossing, which was used to transport ammunition, was suspended.
According to intelligence, the railway bridge was used by the occupiers to transport military cargo, in particular engineering ammunition, manufactured at the JSC Polimyer plant in the city of Chapaevsk, Samara region.
In addition, a substation supplying defence plants exploded in Yekaterinburg on the night of Mar. 2.
Russian mass media reported that the alleged explosion took place on Shefskaya Street near the Kalininska substation. They claimed it was caused by a short circuit that damaged one of the transformers. However, the network reported that an improvised explosive device was found near the station.
The substation provides electricity to three defence plants in Russia. Other channels reported that these factories, which receive energy from the substation, work in metallurgy, cement production, and manufacturing lifting and transport equipment for mining complexes.
