An icebreaker "Yermak" caught fire in Russian St. Petersburg

A fire broke out on the Russian icebreaker "Yermak" in the port of St. Petersburg. The vessel was allegedly planned to be scrapped.

What is known about the fire at the Yermak icebreaker

According to the information of the Russian agency, the icebreaker on which the fire started is moored in the Grand Port of St. Petersburg.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the vessel is no longer in operation and is subject to disposal.

The fire started on the first and second decks. There are apparently no casualties. At the same time, the network specifies that the fire occurred against the background of welding works.

Destruction of Russian ships

On morning of Feb. 29, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 25 boats or ships of the Russian Federation and 1 submarine.

On Feb. 14, Ukrainian naval drones sank the large landing ship "Caesar Kunikov" near Alupka in Crimea.

On Jan. 31, the R-334 "Ivanovets" missile corvette was sunk on Lake Donuzlav, and on Dec.26, 2023, the large landing ship "Novocherkask" was hit by "Storm Shadow" missiles.

On Sep.13, 2023, as a result of a missile attack on the Severmorzavod, the Rostov-on-Don submarine and the large landing ship "Minsk" were struck.
