On the night of December 21, 2023, Russian occupiers attacked with Shahed-type UAVs from three directions: Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Kursk in Russian Federation.
35 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones were recorded, attacking in waves at various times between 20:00 on December 20 and 03:30 on December 21.
Tactical aviation, anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.
This night, in various directions, the defenders of the sky managed to shoot down 34 out of 35 launched enemy UAVs of the enemy, the message says.
In which regions of Ukraine did the Air Defense Forces work?
Air defence worked in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyy, Sumy, Poltava, Chernihiv and Kirovohrad regions.
The Air Force reported an attack by several groups of "Shaheds" at 20:29. Then the kamikaze drones were moving in the direction from Kherson Oblast to Kryvyi Rih.
A few minutes later, it became known that the "Shaheds" entered the airspace of the Sumy region from the north.
After 21:00, "Shaheds" began to be recorded in Kirovohrad Oblast, Poltava Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, Mykolaiv Oblast, and new groups in Kherson Oblast and Sumy Oblast.
As of 23:30, it is known about "Shaheds" in the area of Bila Tserkva of the Kyiv region, the movement of UAVs in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as about drones in the Vinnytsia region moving towards Starokostyantynov (Khmelnytskyy region).
At 00:59, the AFU Air Forces reported about a group of enemy UAVs in the Kherson and Mykolaiv region.
At 03:26, an air raid alarm was sounded in all regions.
Around 10:00 p.m., the Sumy RMA reported that air defence had already shot down 2 "Shaheds" over the region. Air defence also worked in the Dnipropetrovsk region. 2 enemy drones were shot down in the Kryvyy Rig and Dnipro districts.
Almost at midnight, the work of air defence in the Kyiv region became known.
The wreckage of the "Shahed" fell on a residential building in the Poltava region.
During the air alert, debris, probably from an enemy UAV, fell on a residential building in the Myrhorod district. According to preliminary information, no one was injured. Already in the morning, a specialized commission will work on the site, which will record the destruction. The owners of the house receive financial assistance, the Poltava RMA statement says.
Mykolayiv Oblast was under attack by enemy drones in the south of Ukraine.
Debris of a downed UAV damaged a warehouse building of an agricultural enterprise in the Mykolaiv district, the Southern Defense Forces said in a statement.
It is noted that a fire broke out there, which the rescuers quickly extinguished. People were not injured.
The air defence forces of southern Ukraine destroyed 19 kamikaze drones:
13 in the Mykolayiv region
3 in the Kherson region
2 in Vinnytsia region
1 in Dnipropetrovsk region.
