The F-16 aircraft fighters, which Ukraine will receive from Western partners, will require some modernization. The spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, informed of this.

F-16 modernization

On the air of the telethon, Ignat said that the planes will have to be modernized because Ukraine is facing a serious "machine".

Russian aviation consists of about 1,500 fighter aircraft. Thus, they have technological aircraft Su-35, Su-34. It is necessary that the F-16 is not inferior in terms of parameters, the spokesman said.

He added that the Russian Federation usually does not use its entire "Armada" against Ukraine, but Russian planes are more technologically advanced.

Delivery of F-16 aircraft fighters to Ukraine

The United States confirmed its intention to train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 in May.

The Netherlands and Denmark led the aviation coalition for the transfer of modern fighter jets to Ukraine. It is assumed that Ukraine will receive at least 61 aircraft from these countries.

Ukrainian pilots are already undergoing training on F-16 fighters in the USA. In October, it became known that they would soon start flying on F-16 accompanied by instructors.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force hopes the first F-16s will appear in Ukraine in the spring of 2024.
