According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian troops managed to advance south of Spirne, 27 km from Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

What is known about the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the east of Ukraine

It is noted that no confirmed changes were recorded on the Kupyansk-Kreminna frontline on 29 December, but positional fighting continue.

In particular, according to both representatives of the Ukrainian military command and the occupying Russian army, hostilities continued northeast of Kupyansk in the area of Synkivka and west and southwest of Kreminna in the area of Torske and Serebryanka Forestries.

Ukrainian journalist Yurii Butusov published footage showing Ukrainian drones and artillery units attacking a convoy of Russian army and their armoured vehicles near Synkivka in the Kharkiv region.

Meanwhile, in the Donetsk region, according to geolocation data, on 27 December, Ukrainian troops advanced south of Spirne.

According to one Russian military blogger, the "fog of war" is clouding the situation northeast of Bakhmut in the Siversk area, but there are no signs of a large-scale offensive by either side in the area.

According to the Ukrainian military and the Russian occupiers, hostilities continued west of Bakhmut in the area of Bohdanivka, Khromove and Ivanivske, as well as southwest in the area of Klishchiyivka, Andriivka and Kurdyumivka.

According to geolocation data as of 29 December, Russian army war criminals allegedly managed to advance northeast of Vodyane, 7 km southwest of Avdiivka.

Ukrainian and Russian sources claim that positional fighting continues north-west of Avdiivka in the area of Ocheretyane, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove; southeast — in the industrial area; southwest — in the area of Pivnichne, Pervomaiske, Nevelske.

According to Ukrainian military analyst Kostiantyn Mashovets, the Russian occupiers carry out offensive actions in small assault groups in the absence of armoured vehicles, and sometimes even without artillery support, relying only on small arms.

Mashovets added that units from the 15th, 21st, 74th separate motor rifle brigades and the 35th separate guards motor rifle brigade are trying to advance northwest and southwest of Avdiivka.

On 29 December, positional fighting also continued to the west and southwest of Donetsk, but no confirmed changes in the frontline in this area were recorded.

Positional fighting also continued in Maryinka and Novomykhailivka districts.

What is known about the situation in the south of Ukraine

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian troops repelled four attacks by Russian occupiers south of Novodarivka during the day.

On 29 December, the criminals of the Russian army attempted to regain their lost positions in the west of Zaporizhzhia region, but no confirmed changes were recorded on the frontline.

Russian and Ukrainian sources report that positional fighting continues along the Kopani-Robotyne-Novoprokopivka-Verbove line, particularly around Robotyne and between Novoprokopivka and Verbove.

As of 29 December, Ukrainian troops held their positions on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region, but no confirmed changes in the frontline in this area were recorded.

Russian and Ukrainian sources report positional fighting near and around Krynky.

Russian airborne troops and unidentified special forces units reportedly continue to operate in the area.
