Front-line defence forces have faced shortages of artillery shells and scaled back some military operations due to a lack of Western aid.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine reduced some operations due to a lack of ammunition
The Tavria Operational Strategic Group of Forces commander, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, told Reuters that the Defense Forces have problems with ammunition.
There is a problem with ammunition, especially post-Soviet (projectiles) — these are 122 mm, 152 mm. And today these problems exist along the entire front line. The volumes we have today are not sufficient for us today given our needs. Therefore, we redistribute them. We rearrange the tasks we set before ourselves and make them smaller because we need to provide them.
Tarnavskyi called the lack of artillery shells a "huge problem", and cuts in foreign military aid have affected the battlefield.
He added that the Russian troops also face ammunition problems without clarifying their essence.
According to him, Ukrainian troops on the South-Eastern Front have gone on the defensive in some areas but are trying to advance in others.
Russia is changing its tactics near Avdiivka
Currently, Russia is on the offensive in the east and is trying to surround Avdiivka, whose defence is led by Tarnavskyi.
Their (Russian troops — ed.) intention remains (the same). The only thing is that their actions change, their tactics change... attacks are carried out all the time.
The situation in Avdiivka changed "every day and every night." According to him, Russian forces regularly change their tactics, having achieved "partial success in some areas at a depth of about 1.5 to 2 km".
I believe we are firmly on those lines today. Today, the enemy is pressing us with its numbers. They have never cared and never will care about their staff.
