Air defence shots down 38 of 42 "Shaheds" overnight

On the night of Mar. 6, the Russians attacked Ukraine with five S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and 42 Shahed kamikaze drones. Air defence forces destroyed 38 enemy drones.

The Air Force announced the details of the Russian attack on Ukraine

The enemy attacked Ukraine with five S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, which were launched from the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region.

Also, the invaders launched 42 "Shahed" kamikaze drones from four directions: Chauda and Balaklava in temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions.

The combat work of the defenders of the sky, as a result of which 38 Russian combat drones were shot down, continued in eight regions, namely:

  • Dnipropetrovsk,

  • Odesa,

  • Kherson,

  • Khmelnytskyy,

  • Cherkasy,

  • Kharkiv,

  • Vinnytsia,

  • Sumy regions.

Air Force anti-aircraft missile units, mobile firing groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and EW means were involved in repelling the air attack, the military said.

In the evening and throughout the night, the Russian occupiers launched Shahed-type kamikaze drones across Ukraine. In addition, the Air Force also warned about the threat of enemy missile strikes using ballistics.

On the evening of Mar. 5, explosions rang out in Odesa during a massive attack by the "Shakheds". It also became known that the light went out in several districts in Odesa.

In addition, the Air Defence also worked in the Kyiv region. Later, it became known that explosions were also heard in the Khmelnytskyi region, where enemy drones were flying at Starokostiantyniv. The Sumy RMA infromed told about the explosions in Sumy — it was indicated that the arrivals in three districts of the city were recorded, and there were also victims.
