On the evening of January 14, MP Yurii Mysiagin informed that the Air Force shot down two planes of the Russian army — an A-50 and an Il-22 aircraft. On January 15, Mykola Oleschuk provided preliminary information about this unprecedented success of Ukrainian aviators.

"A Revenge for Dnipro": Air Force Commander made an important statement

The Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, hinted at the downed Russian warplanes yesterday.

Oleschuk reported this information on his Telegram channel.

This is for Dnipro! Burn in hell, inhumans! P.S. Yet no more details, he wrote.

He probably hinted at the A-50 and Il-22 shot down on the evening of January 14. This became a kind of revenge for the brutal shelling of the Dnipro by the Russian army, which took place on January 14, 2023. Forty-six civilians died then, including six children. Eighty people were injured. A Russian missile targeted an apartment building.

Ukraine shot down Russian army two planes over the Sea of Azov

The Air Force destroyed a Russian A-50 aircraft and an Il-22 bomber over the Sea of Azov.

Deputy chairman of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence in the Verkhovna Rada and MP Yury Mysyagin reported this in Telegram.

Around 9:00 p.m., Ukrainian units fired at two planes of the Russian army, which were over the waters of the Sea of Azov, Mysyagin writes.

It is about the Russian A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft and IL-22 bomber.

The A-50 was shot down, and the IL-22 was shot down, but it was in the air and tried to reach the nearest airfield, but it disappeared from the radar after it began to descent in the Kerch area, Mysiagin said.
