The CHEM PLUTO, a Liberian-flagged chemical tanker owned by Japan and operated by the Netherlands, was struck by an attack drone at approximately 10 a.m. local time on Saturday in the Indian Ocean, 200 nautical miles off the coast of India.

There were no casualties, and the fire on board the tanker was extinguished.

U.S. Navy Central Command is in contact with the stricken ship. According to the department, no U.S. Navy ships were nearby.

The Indian Coast Guard said on social media that the vessel had 21 crew members on board and that "the vessel has started moving towards Mumbai".

The strike in the Indian Ocean came as Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen launched more than 100 attacks on a dozen commercial and merchant ships transiting the Red Sea in the past four weeks.

What is known about the attack on American bases

Iraq and Syria attacked U.S. forces four times within hours.

On November 23, American troops were attacked with missiles and drones. According to an unnamed military representative, there were no casualties among the personnel and no damage to the infrastructure.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said that American and international forces were attacked at two facilities in northeastern Syria with several missiles and a unilateral action drone, the journalists reported.

In Iraq, drones were launched at the Ain al-Asad air base west of Baghdad and a U.S. base near Erbil airport in the north.

Earlier in the day, a group calling itself the Islamic Resistance announced attacks on these places. Analysts suggest that several Iraqi armed groups linked to Iran are combined in it.

The media emphasized that the attacks took place the day after the U.S. strike against the Kataib Hezbollah militia. Its representatives stated that eight soldiers were killed as a result of the attack by American troops. Iraq condemned the actions as an escalation and a violation of sovereignty.

U.S. officials responded that the U.S. had struck Iranian groups after their attacks on U.S. and international forces escalated. According to the unnamed official, since October 17, there have been 36 attacks in Iraq and 37 in Syria.
