Ollongren: Changes are needed in the EU military structures
The European Union must prepare for battle if it wants to remain a zone of stability and peace. For this, it is necessary to introduce several changes in the military structures of its member countries.
This was reported by the Dutch MOD chief, Kaisa Ollongren, on the "X" social network.
No country can face today's security threats alone. We, the Europeans, must step up our game, build a reliable European defense and strengthen our position as a key pillar in NATO, wrote the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, commenting on the newly concluded agreement within the framework of EU military cooperation.
Ollongren notes that the European Union has always been a peaceful project, and all wars have been fought exclusively around it. She emphasized that membership is both a reward and a promise of peace and stability for countries not part of the EU.
To keep it that way, we need to act now. Europe must relearn restraint. We must make long-term, structural investments in strengthening our armed forces. We must be ready for battle, Ollongren emphasized.
What is known about additional aid to Ukraine from the Netherlands
According to the Dutch MFA chief, Hanke Bruins Slot, the Netherlands will continue supporting Ukraine as long as needed.
Bruins Slot emphasized that her country would happily support Ukraine with an additional aid package of 2.5 billion euros next year.
This happened after the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, said that the military aid would help to meet Ukraine's ammunition needs and support the platforms and systems already delivered to the country.
