US President Joe Biden criticized his election rival Donald Trump for meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Florida on Friday.
How Biden reacted to Trump's meeting with Orban
Do you know who he (Trump) is meeting at Mar-a-Lago today? Orbán from Hungary, who categorically stated that he does not think that democracy works and is looking for a dictatorship," Biden said during the speech.
He also noted that he is in favor of a future "in which we will protect democracy, not belittle it."
Meeting between Orban and Trump
Former US President Donald Trump met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. During the meeting, Trump showed the Hungarian politician a house, invited him to a concert, and also called him "the wisest, best and fantastic leader."
During his visit to the USA, the Prime Minister of Hungary did not want to meet with President Joe Biden. According to him, Hungary hopes that Trump will win the elections, because he can supposedly quickly agree on the end of the war in Ukraine.
Bloomberg writes that the meeting is a defiant act by Trump just a day after President Joe Biden, in his State of the Union address, accused Trump and Republicans of turning their backs on democratic ideals by blocking additional aid to Ukraine.
Earlier, Biden criticized the planned meeting at a political rally in Philadelphia, saying Orbán "doesn't think democracy works" and is "looking for a dictatorship."
After the meeting, Orban called on Trump to return to the post of US president.
