US President Joe Biden expressed hope that a final agreement will be reached in Congress on financing military aid to Ukraine as early as next week.

Biden is waiting for Congress to approve the financing of military aid to Ukraine

In particular, the American leader expressed hope that the agreement between Republicans and Democrats on changes to immigration legislation and strengthening the border with Mexico, which paves the way for considering the issue of financing aid to Ukraine, will be approved next week.

I think we can get something done next week, at least in the Senate, and I hope it will be a bipartisan package. Now the question is for the Speaker and the Republicans in the House of Representatives, are they ready to do the same? — said Biden.

According to the journalists of the publication, some representatives of the Republican Party threaten to remove the speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, if the issue of strengthening the border together with the package of military aid to Ukraine is brought up for consideration.

At the same time, Biden admitted that changes in immigration policy are necessary.

I'm ready to solve this problem, I really am — massive change, and I mean it sincerely. I believe that we need significant changes in border policy, including changes in our asylum system, — stressed Biden.

The White House does not rule out reducing aid to Ukraine in the event of Trump's presidency

Representatives of the White House and the leadership of NATO fear that in the event of Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential elections, support for Ukraine will be significantly reduced.

So, according to Mike Quigley, a representative of the Democratic Party, the key reason for the Republicans' position on refusing to help Ukraine is the unwillingness to offend Donald Trump and his supporters.

The main reason Republicans are not supporting the Ukraine amendment is that they don't want to offend candidate Trump and his supporters. He has already made it clear what he will do: the war will end on his first day, which means that Putin will be able to preserve the borders he has, if not more, — emphasizes Quigley.

The article, citing information from representatives of Western intelligence, states that the criminal war unleashed by the Kremlin against Ukraine will last at least 2 more years, and most likely, much longer.

According to some Western analysts and politicians, the war in Ukraine may last at least another 5 years.

It is for this reason that administration officials and lawmakers have sought to direct funding to Ukraine before the deadline potentially expires at the end of 2024.

In addition to the immediate need, many people I spoke to are thinking about getting as much help as possible before January 2025. It is important not only that the money is allocated, but also that it is paid before the election, because any funds for the 24th fiscal year, still waiting to be used, could be blocked by Trump, — explains one of the American officials.
