The State Border Guard Service (SBGS) of Ukraine warns of traffic complications expected in front of the Uzhgorod checkpoint on December 1 due to the intention of Slovak carriers to block the movement of trucks at the border.

Border guards warn of difficulties on the border with Slovakia

According to the information received from the Border Police of the Slovak Republic, the Union of Transporters of Slovakia (UNAS) plans to block the movement of freight vehicles in front of the "Vyšné Nemecké" checkpoint, adjacent to the Ukrainian "Uzhhorod" checkpoint, from 4:00 p.m. on December 1, 2023. At the same time, it is noted that the transportation of humanitarian aid and military aid, live animals, fuel and refrigerated cargo will not be blocked. Other cargo leaving Slovakia will be allowed in a limited amount, 4 trucks per hour. In view of the above, we ask you to take into account the possible complications of motor vehicle traffic in front of the Uzhhorod checkpoint, stated in the SBGS message says.

The border guards note that the Slovak side did not inform them about the deadlines for completing such actions.

Border guards of Ukraine will monitor the situation, and interaction with Slovak colleagues will be constantly refined regarding the passage of cargo vehicles and the categories of cargo that will still be passed across the border, including those entering Slovakia.

In the event of a change in the situation, the State Border Service of Ukraine will inform about it on its information pages.

Slovakia decided to show solidarity with Poland

On November 16, Union of Motor Truckers of Slovakia (UNAS) members organized a Vyšné Nemecké border checkpoint blockade with Ukraine.

In this way, they decided to support the Polish demonstrators.

It is worth noting that this "promotion" lasted only an hour.

According to journalists, representatives of Polish carriers joined the mini-blockade.

If there is no progress, the Poles will continue to block the border, and we will join in, blocking the entire German Cherry. We will be forced, because there is no other way, the UNAS chief Stanislav Skala said.

He also claims that his Hungarian colleagues are already making similar appeals.

As the representatives of the customs administration of Slovakia stated, this mini-blockade did not affect their work. There were also no cases of violations of public order in the checkpoint area.
