Last week, Ukraine was visited for the first time by a trade mission of the United Kingdom, which included representatives of the government and the defence industry, and a series of agreements were signed as a result of the meetings.

Britain conducted the first trade mission in Ukraine

The mission occurred under the auspices of the Ministry of Business Affairs and the Ministry of Defense on December 13-14. It continued discussions within the defence industry exhibition DSEI in London regarding a possible partnership between British and Ukrainian companies.

As part of this visit, British and Ukrainian officials talked with representatives of the defence industry of both countries about the possibilities of long-term cooperation.

As a result of the meetings, a series of agreements were signed.

In particular, the British company Babcock received a three-year contract from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to maintain mine countermeasures vessels Cherkasy and Chernihiv, which Britain previously handed over. Before that, the company's office was created in Ukraine.

BAE Systems and AMS Integrated Solutions Ltd have signed an agreement that will enable direct specialized support for Ukrainian artillery systems on the territory of Ukraine. In particular, the artillery transferred by Britain will be repaired and serviced in AMS centres on the part of Ukraine where Ukrainian specialists work.

The Thales company signed a memorandum with the Ukrainian drone development company Aerodrone "to provide new capabilities for the Armed Forces."

The mission generally included BAE Systems, Babcock, Thales, AMS Global, and KBR. The communique notes that new such missions are planned in 2024, and other defence industry companies will be able to participate in them.
