What we know about Rishi Sunak's visit to Kyiv

According to the publication, Sunak will announce a new military aid package during his visit.

Britain will provide £2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine in 2024-2025, which is £200 million more than in the previous two years.

The British Prime Minister will also announce the provision of security guarantees and humanitarian aid.

Sunak is expected to sign a security cooperation agreement with Zelenskyy. It provides for intelligence sharing, cybersecurity, medical and military training, and defence-industrial cooperation.

During his visit to Kyiv, the British prime minister will meet with the State Emergency Service, which is responding to the aftermath of Russia's massive shelling.

Britain's assistance to Ukraine

It is worth noting that the UK was one of the first countries to support Ukraine at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. London provided military, financial and humanitarian support. In particular, it has provided Ukraine with Challenger 2 tanks, long-range Storm Shadow missiles, and training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets.

In addition, Britain supports Ukraine's membership in NATO and actively criticises the Kremlin regime in public.

In May 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the UK, where he held a series of meetings. In particular, with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
