British Foreign Secretary David Cameron has suggested that Britain may strike Houthi targets in Yemen again if the group continues to attack ships in the Red Sea.

Britain may strike again at the Houthis in Yemen

Cameron said Britain had no choice but to attack Houthi targets in Yemen.

Our strikes were necessary, proportionate and lawful. The Royal Air Force took particular care to avoid civilian casualties, the British minister wrote.

Cameron said Britain had delivered "warning after warning" to the Houthis before joining the US-led strikes this week.

He said prices in the UK would rise if the Houthis blocked vital trade routes. That is why London is participating in the campaign against the Houthis to protect "freedom of navigation".

If the Houthis deny the ships passage, vital supply chains will be at risk and prices will rise in Britain and around the world, Cameron said.

He also suggested that Britain may strike Houthi targets again if their attacks continue.

We have sent an unambiguous message: what the Houthis are doing is wrong, and we are determined to put a stop to it. We will work with allies. We will always defend the freedom of navigation. And, crucially, we will be prepared to back words with actions, Cameron wrote.

The Houthis are a political and military group that controls a large part of Yemen, including the capital. Iran, Israel's sworn enemy, supports them.

The Houthis declare their support for Hamas and say they target any vessel bound for or belonging to Israel.
