Melanie Joly arrived in Kyiv

At a joint briefing with Dmytro Kuleba, Melanie Jolie noted the importance of returning Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia to Ukraine.

Children were taken from their own homes, from their families and deprived of their own language. The importance of returning children cannot be underestimated. This is a matter of our humanity, that is why today Canada and Ukraine will start a coalition for the return of Ukrainian children, — noted Jolie.

She emphasised that Canada will inform everyone about who these children are and will convince countries to unite around this issue. Jolie noted that Canada will speak, in particular, to Mexico, Brazil, Qatar and others.

The minister also said that her government will work with those countries that have direct relations with Russia to facilitate the return of Ukrainian children home.

Kuleba thanked his colleague and noted that today they also discussed sanctions against the Russian Federation and the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.

I want to note the special role that Melanie and Canada play in the case of the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. The personal commitment of Joly and Canada in this matter is a vivid example of leadership in the protection of human rights, the minister said, Suspilne reports.
