Dozens of cars with numbers registered in the Russian Federation are in Lithuania. And this is despite the authority's order to register them in the country by March 11, or leave the territory of the EU.

Lithuania will fine Russian traffic violators

Violators in Lithuania face confiscation of the car and a fine in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses.

This is reported by DW.

According to the customs, several dozen cars with numbers registered in Russia are still driving in Lithuania. According to approximate calculations, about 50, said the representative of the Lithuanian customs department, Irmina Frolova-Milashene.

According to her, we are talking about cars that take part in road traffic, while some more may be parked in parking lots or in other places.

If it is established that such vehicles do not have the right to be in Lithuania, this will be considered a violation of international sanctions, the representative of the customs department stressed.

Individuals may be fined from 200 to 6,000 euros for the first violation, and from 2,000 to 6,000 euros for a second violation. Management of legal entities will be fined from 600 to 6,000 and from 4,000 to 6,000 euros, respectively.

At the same time, an exception will be made for citizens of the Russian Federation, who are going to the Kaliningrad Region (RF) in cars with Russian license plates or transiting from it. However, in this case, it will be necessary to cross Lithuania within 24 hours, and the owner of the car will have to accompany him. In the absence of the owner, the vehicle will not be allowed into the Lithuanian territory.

Russian cars must leave Lithuania

Lithuanian customs reports that cars with Russian license plates must leave Lithuania and the entire territory of the European Union by March 11.

According to customs, there are still owners of cars registered in Russia on the territory of Lithuania. Until March 11, these persons must register their vehicles in Lithuania or leave the territory of the EU.

From March 11, owners of cars with Russian license plates will be considered violators of the requirements of the law and will be subject to liability — a fine or confiscation of the car.

Lithuania fulfills the sanctions requirements of the Council of Europe, which allowed the registration of cars that entered the country until December 19 last year. Since March 11 of this year, cars registered in Russia cannot be in Lithuania or must be re-registered at that time.
