Danilov denied rumors about plans to urgently mobilize 500,000 men

Oleksiy Danilov

Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of the NSDC, said that the announced plans to mobilize another 500,000 Ukrainian men do not correspond to the situation in the near future.

What Danilov says about nearest plans for mobilization in Ukraine

The NSDC Secretary stressed that during the last four meetings of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, the issue of additional mobilisation of a certain number of people was discussed.

At the same time, Danilov stressed that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has always insisted on the need for a fair resolution of this issue.

The President of our country talks about justice, so that we do not have phenomena when some people defend the country, while others are in other parts of the world, relaxing at resorts. This includes government officials. In this case, 100% of what the President insists on is justice, explained the NSDC Secretary.

What is known about intentions of further mobilization in Ukraine

Danilov added that the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff are jointly proposing their options for a mechanism to mobilise another 500,000 Ukrainians, but the final decision must be made by the Verkhovna Rada.

This is a difficult discussion. The numbers that have been announced today are indeed necessary, according to our military. However, we are not talking about a "today is not today" situation, but about the fact that in a certain period of time, we can most likely expect that we will need to involve a certain number of citizens to defend our country, the NSDC Secretary stressed.

He stressed that those mobilised must have certain training and understand the specific terms for which they are sent to participate in hostilities.

We are discussing this in the Stavka, but I emphasise that we will find an answer to this question in the near future, Danilov assured.
