As of the morning of 1 January, 28 people have been killed in Kyiv as a result of Russia's most massive air attack on Ukraine.

According to the head of the Kyiv city Military administration (CMA), Serhiy Popko, the State Emergency Service managed to find four more bodies under the rubble.

He notes that the total death toll has already risen to 28 people.

In addition, it is emphasised that another 30 people were injured during the attack.

According to the press service of the State Emergency Service, rescuers were able to remove 2,675 cubic metres of destroyed building structures.

It is important to understand that rescue operations are ongoing around the clock.

They currently involve 47 people and 21 pieces of equipment.

The Day of Mourning was announced in Kyiv on January 1.

What is known about Russia's attack on Ukraine on December 29

On the morning of December 29, the Russian invaders launched a record number of missiles and drones over Ukraine.

The Russian army attacked Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Lviv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

As the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine later stated, it was the most massive enemy air attack during the war.

The Russian military used 158 air attack weapons, missiles of various types and attack UAVs. 27 Shaheds and 87 cruise missiles were destroyed.

The exact number of people killed as a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine on 29 December is still unknown as rescue operations continue. We are talking about dozens of victims in different regions of the country.

In addition, more than 140 Ukrainians were injured.
