According to Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), Ukraine monitors the situation in the Kharkiv region and monitors the actions of the Russia's criminal army.
What is known about situation in Kharkiv region and threat of offensive by Russian army
Yusov urged Ukrainians not to panic, as Ukraine is monitoring the actions of the criminal army of Russia on the border with the Kharkiv region and in the area of Kupyansk and is ready to respond promptly to the enemy's actions.
Today, Ukraine has the most information about what is happening on Ukraine's borders with Russia, Belarus and other countries. Of course, we are actively exchanging information with our partners, and all the real, up-to-date information is known to our partners and, of course, to the Ukrainian security and defence forces. An appropriate response is being prepared, explains Yusov.
Yusov emphasised that certain information is disseminated either as part of hostile information operations or in order to respect freedom of speech and real information policy.
But we must react to this soberly and not panic, said the representative of the DIU.
Earlier, the British newspaper The Telegraph, citing sources close to the Ukrainian military, reported that the Russian criminal army could attack the Kharkiv region after 15 January and launch a series of massive air strikes.
What do representatives of Kharkiv Region authorities say
According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, Ukrainian troops in the area of Kupyansk inflicted numerous losses on the criminal army of Russia and slowed down the enemy's offensive.
The enemy is really advancing in the Kupyansk sector, conducting active assault operations. Seven enemy attacks have been repelled recently alone. We are currently noticing that their offensive has slowed down somewhat. This is due to the fact that our military inflict significant losses on them, forcing them to retreat and restore losses in manpower and equipment. This offensive is ongoing and is taking place in waves, noted Syniehubov.
He also noted that after the weather conditions stabilise and the Russian occupiers regroup and replenish their losses, they are likely to continue their offensive in the vicinity of Synkivka.
However, the enemy's efforts, which have been going on for more than 6 months, have not brought any results to the Russians. We have prevented the loss of territory, said Syniehubov.
