A meeting of Budanov and Kuninori

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) chief, Gen Kyrylo Budanov, and First Deputy Chief of Ukraine's MFA, Emine Japarova, met with the Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine, Matsuda Kuninori. They discussed cooperation between the two countries.

Meeting of Budanov and Japan's Ambassador

DIU reports that Japan is one of Ukraine's most reliable and consistent partners in the fight against terrorist Russia.

We continue the dialogue, share experience, discuss interesting ideas, strengthen partnership for the sake of movement towards a just world and the liberation of all our lands from the Russian invaders.

This is not the first such meeting. On August 19, 2023, Budanov and Dzhaparova discussed the issue of strengthening Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation with Kuninori and exchanged views on the current situation in the world.

Also, such a meeting took place on June 2, 2023.

Japan's aid to Ukraine

In August, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, speaking online at the summit of the International Crimean Platform, said that his country would provide up to $7 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Kishida adds that Japan will assist with its experience and expertise in post-war reconstruction and natural disaster recovery.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Japan has imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation and transferred to Ukraine bulletproof vests, helmets, tents, generators, winter clothes, blankets, medical equipment and vehicles.

Japan also provided funds to Ukraine's state budget through the World Bank's Trust Fund mechanism.
