DIU confirms blow-up of railway bridge in the Russian Samara region

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) blew up a railway bridge in the Samara region. Currently, the movement on the bridge, used to transport ammunition, is paralysed.

What is known about the DIU ops in the Russian Samara region

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine confirms the fact that the railway bridge across the Chapaevka River in the Samara region has been disabled, the DIU statement says.

The explosion happened around 6:00 a.m. on Mar. 4. Intelligence officials note that the bridge was damaged by its undermined power structures.

Given the nature of the damage to the railway bridge, its use will be impossible for a long time, added the DIU statement.

It is noted that the aggressor state used the railway branch to transport military cargo, mainly engineering ammunition produced by the JSC Polimyer plant in Chapaevsk of the Russian Samara region.

What is known about sabotage on railways in Russia

On Mar. 4, the pillars of a railway bridge were blown up in the Samara region of Russia.

The movement of trains on the bridge is suspended. Four trains are currently delayed. The "Zagorsk" plan has been announced in the region. Russia's secret services are working on the spot.

Since the beginning of 2023, according to data for May, 36 such cases have already been known.

On the night of Nov. 30, 2023, an explosion occurred on the Baikal-Amur highway in Buryatia. It was a successful operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), which paralysed the only serious way of railway communication between the Russian Federation and China.
