The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) confirms its successful attack on the ship of the Russian Federation "Sergei Kotov", as well as the final destruction of the enemy vessel.

The Russian patrol ship "Sergei Kotov" has sunken

On the night of Mar. 4-5, 2024, the special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine "Group 13" attacked the patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation "Sergei Kotov", according to the official statement of Ukrainian intelligence.

What is important to understand is that the successful DIU special operation was implemented in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and with the support of Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation.

In addition, it is emphasised that as a result of the strike by Magura V5 naval drones, the Russian ship suffered damage to the stern, right and left sides.

According to Ukrainian scouts, the enemy vessel was hit by fire in the territorial waters of Ukraine near the Kerch Strait.

It is also worth paying attention to the fact that the sunken ship costs about $65 million.

What is known about the ship of the Russian Federation "Sergei Kotov"

"Sergei Kotov" is the third serial (fourth in total) patrol ship (corvette) of project 22160. It is part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

Its value was estimated at 6 billion rubles.

It was launched for the first time at the Zatoka shipyard in January 2021. It is named in honour of the participant of the Great Patriotic War — Hero of the Soviet Union, Counter Admiral Sergei Nikolayevich Kotov.

The specified ship was also a carrier of Kalibr missiles.
