On February 14, explosions were heard near the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea, and smoke was visible in the sea. Eyewitnesses reported that the cause of the explosions was a fire on one of the Russian ships.
Later, it became known that Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) drones attacked the large Russian landing assault ship "Caesar Kunikov" in the Black Sea.
According to eyewitnesses, at least two helicopters fly over the sea in Simeiz and Alupka.
Residents of southern Crimea also spotted a Russian Ka-27 helicopter near the village of Foros. It is intended for search and rescue flights.
What is known about the drone attack on the Black Sea on February 14
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on the night of February 14, air defences allegedly shot down nine drones over the territory of the Russian Federation and in the waters of the Black Sea.
In particular, it was reported that six drones were allegedly downed over the Black Sea, two more were allegedly downed in the Belgorod region and one in the Voronezh region.
Locals said that the drones allegedly hit a large landing ship. Later, a Ka-27 search and rescue helicopter was spotted in the Foros area.
