The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) published lists of Syrian mercenaries recruited by Russia for the war against Ukraine.

Lists of Syrian mercenaries recruited by Russia for the war against Ukraine

There are 141 people on the published list. The youngest mercenary on the list is 22 years old, and the oldest is 50.

As you know, the Russians are recruiting Syrians to participate in hostilities against Ukraine through travel companies, and the training takes place at a military base near the city of Aleppo and the Kuweires airfield, — the DIU notes.

At the same time, the GUR reminded that there will be a fair retribution for every war crime committed against Ukraine.

Earlier this month, the DIU reported that the Russian Federation recruited Syrians for the war against Ukraine.

About 1,000 mercenaries are already undergoing combat-focused training in urban areas near Aleppo and Kuweires airfield.

After completing the training, the Syrian mercenaries will be sent to the Khmeimim air base, and from there to the territory of the Russian Federation. Upon arrival in Russia, they are issued Russian passports and then mobilised into the occupation army.

Recruiting takes place through travel agencies. The Syrians will be sent to Ulan-Ude, where they will be mobilized into the 5th Separate Guards Tank Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.

DIU fighters captured the Wagner Group mercenaries in Sudan

In early February, Kyiv Post published a video showing how Ukrainian special forces interrogated captured Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group in the Republic of Sudan.

In one part of the video, DIU commandos of the "Timur" group inspect military equipment.

Other footage shows a Ukrainian cameraman interrogating a Russian-speaking prisoner.

In the video, the Russian admits to being part of Wagner Group, which was sent to Sudan to overthrow the local government.
