The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced his country's readiness to once again act as a mediator in the negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation regarding the end of the war.
Erdogan declares his readiness to organise peace talks between Ukraine and Russia
During a video address to the participants of the Ukraine-Southeastern Europe summit, Erdogan noted that the implementation of peace initiatives and the settlement of the criminal war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine requires the consent of both sides.
The material of the Anadolu publication noted that Erdogan said of the renewal of the grain agreement, which remained on the agenda.
In particular, Erdogan is convinced of the need to agree to ensure the safety of commercial ships in the Black Sea.
The President of Turkey noted that, within the framework of cooperation with the UN, contacts are ongoing to develop a new regulation, including obligations to ensure security in the Black Sea.
The Turkish leader stated the need to use all diplomatic channels to settle the criminal war unleashed by Russia.
The President of Turkey also stated that his country is committed to playing a leading role in the plan dedicated to food security.
Erdogan again emphasised Turkey's support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
The President of Turkey noted that his country is making considerable efforts to protect the rights and interests of the Crimean Tatar people.
What is known about Ukraine's conditions for talks with Russia
Last year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a decision of the National Security Council on the impossibility of negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
To resume talks, the Russian Federation must do the following:
altogether leave the territory of Ukraine;
change the political elite;
recognise war crimes;
to extradite the war organisers for trial.
