The Russian occupiers are unable to carry out full-scale attacks in several directions in Ukraine due to a lack of personnel. Instead, there is data on the invaders' concentration of units in the Luhansk direction.

Russia can't conduct large-scale attacks in several directions

Combat operations are taking place in the Luhansk direction, and there several Russian shock units have suffered heavy losses due to the desertion of units, he said.

Estonia's intelligence chief, Anti Kiviselg, commented on the Ukrainian side's data that a large wave of attacks could be expected in this direction no earlier than the end of January or the beginning of February after the ground freezes.

At the same time, the concentration of forces in one place means that such offensive activity cannot be expected in other directions, because there are simply not enough forces for this, —noted the representative of Estonian intelligence.

The situation near Mariinka

Kiviselg also expressed the opinion that the Russian troops achieved specific successes, particularly in the Mariinka area of the Donetsk region, where instead of a direct assault on the positions of the Ukrainian defenders, they attacked from the flanks.

This requires that the units are well trained and managed. Fortunately, there are not many such units in Russia, this is one of the few cases, he said.

According to the colonel, at the same time, during direct attacks, the Russian interventionists suffered heavy losses.

Fighting in the Avdiivka area

On the Donetsk side, Russian troops are trying to block the supply routes for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdiivka, says Kiviselg.

In this area, the Russians tried to strike armoured vehicles, but without success, he added.

The situation in the south

Russian occupiers are carrying out attacks in the Kherson region, but the activity of shelling has decreased. According to the representative of Estonian intelligence, the Russian marines and airborne forces, mainly fighting there, do not want to go into a frontal attack.

On the left bank of the Dnipro River, the Defense Forces still hold footholds, although the Russian invaders continue to attack them. Kiviselg said that "both the Ukrainians and the Russians have problems with the supply of troops there" due to the freezing of the Dnipro River.
