Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozvyak reported it.

EU ambassadors have just given the green light to the 13th package of sanctions against Russia. It should be published just in time for the anniversary of February 24, he wrote.

According to Reuters sources in the EU, the new package covers about 200 legal entities and individuals but does not contain new sectoral measures.

What is known about the new package of sanctions against Russia

In January, the European Union began discussing introducing the 13th package of anti-Russian sanctions. They want to approve the restrictions by the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The ambassadors of the EU countries tried several times to agree on new measures against Russia, but it never worked out. As the Financial Times wrote, the reason was the blocking by Hungary.

Budapest allegedly did not want Chinese companies included in the sanctions lists.

At the same time, the head of Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, stated that Budapest would not block the new European Union sanctions against Russia, as there was no longer any reason for this.
