The EU may impose sanctions against disgraced journalist Tucker Carlson after his interview with Kremlin dictator and war criminal Vladimir Putin.
What is known about Carlson and his interview with Putin
The day before, on February 6, Carlson said he plans to publish a full interview with the Kremlin dictator shortly.
He explained his desire to interview Putin by allegedly saying that most US citizens have no idea why the Kremlin dictator ordered the attack on Ukraine and what he is trying to achieve.
What was discussed during Carlson's interview with Putin is currently unknown.
However, according to the vast majority of Western media, Carlson is a supporter of Russia and Putin and is expected to defend the Kremlin's aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, the journalist also stated that he requested an interview with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
What problems threaten Carlson because of the interview with Putin
According to the Euro Parliament representative and the ex-Belgian PM, Guy Verhofstadt, Carlson may start a conflict with the EU due to the interview with the Kremlin dictator.
The authors of the material note that to add a person to the sanctions list, the relevant EU services must provide relevant evidence for consideration by the EU External Action Services.
After that, the matter will be referred to the European Council, a body consisting of the leaders of the EU countries, who, for their part, will make the final decision on introducing restrictions.
At the same time, MEP Urmas Paet noted that Putin is not only the leader of the aggressor country but also a criminal recognised by the International Criminal Court, against whom accusations of genocide and war crimes have been brought.
