Executed Ukrainian POWs near Robotyne belonged to 82nd Air Assault Brigade

The Ukrainian soldiers whom the Russians executed near Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region belonged to the 82nd separate air assault brigade. Their bodies were evacuated from the battlefield.

The POWs belonged to the Air Assault Brigade

The Command noted that three soldiers of the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were discharged as a result of being captured after receiving injuries and contusions of various degrees of severity.

The Russian military, in violation of the laws and customs of war, deliberately killed people protected in the armed conflict.

The dead soldiers were evacuated from the battlefield.

Earlier, the head of the Department of Combating Crimes in Conditions of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office named the suspects in this crime on Radio Svoboda.

Law enforcement officers suspect Russian soldiers from the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division of the Russian Federation, known as the Pskov Airborne Division.

Execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Zaporizhzhia region: what is known

On December 27, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that in December 2023, three Ukrainian soldiers were captured near the village of Robotyne.

An hour later, they were executed by the Russian occupiers, which is a violation of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
