Stubb became the 13th president of Finland. His predecessor, Sauli Niiniste, resigned after 12 years as president.
According to him, Russia's invasion of Ukraine ended the era after the Cold War.
The newly appointed president also warned the people about rapid changes.

The former prime minister of Finland, conservative Alexander Stubb, won the presidential election.
According to the results of the vote counting, Stubb received the support of 51.6% of voters, while his opponent was supported by 48.4%. These are the first elections since Finland joined the NATO military alliance.
It should be noted that the Finnish head of state is directly responsible for the country's foreign policy and security policy, being the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief.
Regarding the issue of Ukraine, Stubb stated that he did not agree with the fact that Ukraine should give at least part of its land for peace with Russia. Also, the future president of Finland supports Ukraine's accession to the EU and promised to actively contribute to this process.
Even during the counting of votes, Stubb told the international media journalists that his strong support for Ukraine will continue.
