Finland intends to significantly increase the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine in the near future.

Finland will continue to help the Armed Forces with ammunition

The Finnish MOD chief, Antti Häkkiänen, made such a statement.

We have concluded negotiations on how Finland will further increase the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine. This decision will be made very soon, he said.

Antti Häkkiänen also suggested that the decision on the start of production may be made before December 25.

According to the Finnish minister, a plan to significantly increase ammunition production has already been announced as of today.

We intend to support Ukraine even more than now. At the same time, we will further increase the readiness of Finland and the countries of Northern Europe for the production of ammunition, Antti Häkkiänen concluded.

The EU recognizes the problems with supplying ammunition to Ukraine

Recently, the authorities of the European Commission called on the EU countries to put pressure on the defense industry to increase the production of shells for Ukraine.

Such a statement was made by the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, against the background of fears that Brussels will not be able to send the planned million ammunition to Ukraine by March.

Ministers of defense (of the European Union — ed.) should very strongly ask their defense companies to give priority to Ukraine, at least for the next few months, he emphasized, drawing attention to the fact that "according to estimates, member states do not conclude a sufficient number of contracts."

As mentioned earlier, the governments of the EU countries publicly promised to send one million ammunition to Ukraine by the end of March 2024 so that the Armed Forces would be able to wage war against the Russian Federation effectively.

However, later there were fears that Brussels would be unable to fulfil its promise.
