The Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Lecornu, said that his country will produce 78 Caesar howitzers for Ukraine. Also, Paris will supply about 50 AASM-guided air bombs every month during 2024.

Currently, Ukraine has 49 such guns that have achieved tactical success. Our goal is to produce 78 Caesar howitzers in 2024, encouraging the Europeans and our allies to participate in the project, Lecornu said.

He added that Ukraine bought six Caesar with its funds. They will arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks.

France will produce another 72 guns by the beginning of 2025. Lecornyu noted that the manufacturing company Nexter reduced the production time of self-propelled guns from 30 months to 15 — employees work in three shifts.

France will also supply Ukraine with more shells.

Between February 2022 and April 2023, we supplied 1,000 shells per month. Since last February, it has been 2,000 shells per month, and from this month [January] it will be 3,000 shells per month. We are in the process of obtaining supplies of gunpowder. We process gunpowder from ammunition that was not used, — emphasised the minister.

However, according to experts, these quantities will be enough for only a few days of hostilities.

The minister also announced the delivery of around fifty A2SM (AASM Hammer) surface-to-air missiles every month for a year starting in January. Thus, Ukraine should receive 600 AASM Hammer in 2024.

They can adapt to Soviet-style aircraft, such as the MiG and Su, which Ukraine uses.
